The Day of the wedding

It seems like an age since Emma and Danny had booked me for their wedding photography and boy has the time flown by! They guys had chosen to get married at The Pegwell Bay Hotel in Ramsgate and exchange vows outside with spectacular sea views amongst their closest family and friends.

Emma started to get ready at her mums house and when I arrived, hair and makeup was already underway. It was a great chance to capture the girls having some fun and enjoying the pampering. I made a start shooting the wedding dress and couldnt help but notice the cerise pink glass worktop in the kitchen what better way to kick things off than to bounce a reflection of the dress back into the lens. The morning went to plan with Emma ready to get into her dress a good hour earlier than i'd expected, this meant more time for photos and less pressure on hitting any traffic for the drive from mums to the wedding ceremony. As mum helped her button up the back of the dress the bridesmaids plumped the dress and adjusted her vale.

Emma looked amazing in her dress and I couldn’t wait to see her dads face when he gets to see her. Dad came into the room with a beaming smile and after some tears and photos it was time to make a move to Pegwell Bay to get the wedding ceremony underway.

Wedding Ceremony

Guests started to arrive and congregate inside the lobby area of the hotel, buttonholes were passed around and guests mingled as they had the chance to catch up with one and other.  Danny and his best man were going through some of the formalities while ushers were greeting family and friends at the lobby.

Emma’s vintage wedding car had now arrived and as the car pulled up outside the bridesmaids and helped her out of the car and made sure everything was in place for the walk down the isle.  The registrar started the formalities of the wedding ceremony by introducing guests before the paigeboys and flower girls made their entrance. With her dad in arm Emma started to walk down the steps occasionally looking across to see Danny. When they finally met at the end of the isle Danny couldn’t hold back the smiles as he got to see Emma for the first time, these guys were great together and after making their wedding vows and exchanging the rings it was time to make things official with a kiss and signing the register.

Confetti canons fired overhead and guests threw handfuls of confetti as the guys made their exit, toast drinks were served as the hugs, kisses and congratulations got underway and what better place to take it all in than on the terrace of the hotel with a drink and a staggering sea view as the sun sparkled off the surface.

Wedding Reception

I gave the guys 15 minutes before starting the group photos which where great fun with this bunch! We then headed up the road to a great little spot I had previously found on my first visit to nail some beautiful natural photographs of Mr & Mrs Farmer.

Guests enjoyed reception drinks and made their way inside for the introduction of the new bride and groom and the Wedding Breakfast.  These guys are more like friends than wedding clientele and they had spoilt me by having me dine 3 courses with some fab guests on table 6.  After the desserts were served and wine glasses topped up it was time for the all-important speeches so I grabbed my gear and got back to work .

The room was filled with both laughter and the odd tear as the mic was passed around and to finish proceedings the best man delivered a speech to remember one which I’m sure Danny would like to forget! :)

After a brief spell of embarrassment for poor Danny and as the speeches came to a close it was time for everyone to toast the new Mr and Mrs Farmer and head back out for the room turnaround.

Evening Guests started to arrive and were there to celebrate with the guys as they cut the wedding cake and then make their way onto the dance floor for the first dance. To finish off a cracking day we headed out to take a few twilight shots and like real troopers I managed to convince Emma and Danny to have a few shots in a beautiful little spot overlooking the sea, I’m sure one of these is going to round off a stunning set of wedding photos!

Here is a mix of some of my favorite photos from a terrific wedding at the Pegwell Bay Hotel. Please feel free to comment and share and get in touch if you’re looking for a wedding photographer to capture your wedding day.
