The Day of the wedding

I remember meeting Becky and Steve at my mates BBQ and after introductions got talking about the wedding over a few beers, I passed on a business card and the months went by before we spoke again.

The guys had decided that they would tie the knot at St Marks Church in Gillingham, and then celebrate with friends and family at the Commissioners House in the historic Chatham Dockyard.

The wedding day had arrived and Becky was getting ready at her mums house not far from the church, Becky’s mum gave me the warmest welcome at the door and after a coffee and some introductions it was time to get to work capturing the hair and makeup as the girls got ready. Becky’s choice of wedding dress was a champagne lace number and I have to say it was nice to see something a little different for a change, as mum helped her button up the back of the dress Becky was almost ready, she looked amazing in her dress and I couldn’t wait to see Steve’s face when his future wife made her way down the isle at the church.

The morning went to plan and was rounded off with Steph from Belle Fleur popping in with a stunning array of bouquets and buttonholes for the girls to hand out. It was time to make a move to St Marks Church so I could capture Becky and the Bridesmaids arrival.

Wedding Ceremony

Guests had started to arrive and congregate inside the church. Steve and Nick were at the alter going through some of the formalities while ushers were greeting family and friends at the door. I love a church wedding, the history and the architecture seem to add that something special and St marks Church didn’t disappoint.

Becky arrived by Bentley and as the car pulled up outside the bridesmaids and her brother helped her out of the car and made sure everything was in place for the walk down the isle.  The Vicar started the formalities of the ceremony by introducing guests and the church congregation before Becky and the bridesmaids made their entrance. As Becky made her way towards Steve with her brother in arm, Steve couldn’t hold back the smiles as he got to see Becky for the first time, these guys were great together and after making their wedding vows and exchanging the rings it was time to seal the deal by signing the register.

Confetti was done outside as the guys made their exit and made for great shots of everyone having a fab time and celebrating the moment.  After the hugs and kisses and a bit more rough confetti it was time to head to Commissioners house.

Wedding Reception

Toast drinks and canopies led the way for guests and the group photos which where done on the large upper lawn area of the house. This venue really boasts some breathtaking spots for photos and I wasn’t going to waste any time making sure these guys got the best! After a handful in the gardens I took the guys off to the dry slips, which has the most incredible architecture for some of my favorites from the day.

A magician worked the crowd both over the reception drinks and into the starters of the Wedding Breakfast this always makes for a great photo opportunity and people’s reactions can be priceless! Especially if you have ever seen someone put a bottle of wine through the middle of the table. I always work closely with the best man and on this occasion it was my long time gym buddy Nick doing the honors, this just made it so much more fun as we discussed the plans for the rest of the evening. After the desserts were served and wine glasses topped up it was time for the all-important speeches. The marque was filled with both laughter and the odd tear as the mic was passed around and to finish proceedings Nick delivered a famous best mans speech to have everyone toasting the new Mr and Mrs England.

As the speeches came to a close we were ushered into the front of house for the first dance and the evening festivities. The guys really did have a perfect wedding day, everything went to plan and I thoroughly enjoyed providing the wedding photography and getting to know these guys a little better. To finish off a cracking day we headed out to take a few twilight shots at the front of house, which will really, round off such a stunning set of wedding photos.

Here are a handful of my favorite photos from this amazing wedding at the Commissioners House. Feel free to comment and share and get in touch if you’re looking for a wedding photographer to capture your wedding day.
