The Day of the wedding

Andy emailed me to arrange a consultation over a coffee and we instantly hit it off! After running through packages and examples of work Andy sent me an email confirming they wanted me to provide their wedding photography for the wedding in Arundel. As I’d never been here before I arranged to meet the guys at the Swan hotel in the middle of town and went through paperwork over a bit to eat.

Arundel is a truly stunning part of the UK and on the day of the wedding the weather didn’t disappoint. I made my first stop at the Town hall, which has a large terrace for photos, drinks and some amazing views across the downs. It wasn’t long before guests started to arrive and of course the bridal party who all looked very sharp indeed! Once Andy had gone through the official parts of the brief with the registrar I managed to grab him and Pete the best man for some nice shots and couldn’t help but shoot the smaller details such as Andy’s Cricket bat tiepin and his cufflinks that were also cricket related.

Andy and Pete love cricket and I recall Andy telling me about the reception room décor and how he had put together mini cricket bats all individually branded with names by hand. The guys had put a lot of work into the cricket theme and I have to say when the venue was dressed it all came together really well.  While the Groom and guests prepared for the ceremony it was a chance to break off to get some shots with the Paula and the girls as they waited in the lobby for the ceremony to begin.

Wedding Ceremony

The bridesmaids started their walk down the isle with pageboys in hand followed by Paula accompanied by her daughter, I loved catching Andy’s face as he turned to see Pete who was already looking back and beaming from ear to ear as the girls made their entrance, such a great part of my job that never gets old is capturing moments like this.

When Andy and Paula were face to face you could feel the love! The entire ceremony was filled with love and laughter and finished with a poem written by Andy and made the perfect close to an already perfect wedding ceremony. The New Mr & Mrs Roberts walked the isle one last time to lead guests outside for drinks and photos on the terrace before we headed to Arundel castle to throw the confetti.

Confetti was thrown overhead at the castle gates, which made for an excellent backdrop before we headed down to the castle ruins and the river for some more photographs.

Now I love to have a laugh when I work, the more fun the better but I have to say Andy had me in stitches as the guys walked down a stunning tree lined pathway only to be faced with a pile of dog poop! The photos taken of this moment reminded me of the Hale & Pace comedy sketch from the Bill as they parted holding hands to avoid the inevitable. This till has me laughing as I write this and will be one I remember for a long time! Thank you Andy :)

We finished off the photos with some shots of the castle as the backdrop before heading back to the Swan for the wedding breakfast and speeches.

Wedding Reception

Guests enjoyed reception drinks and a very nice wedding breakfast before the room was filled with both laughter and the odd tear as the microphone was passed around for the speeches and to finish proceedings a good friend of Paula’s got up to sing a heart felt song that had most of the guests looking for the tissues.

Evening Guests started to arrive and were there to celebrate with the guys as they cut the wedding cake and then make their way onto the dance floor for the first dance. To finish off a fantastic day we headed out to take a few twilight shots in a beautiful little spot overlooking Arundel Castle.

Here is a mix of some of my favorite photos from a terrific wedding with a great bunch of people in Arundel. Please feel free to comment and share and get in touch if you’re looking for a wedding photographer to capture your wedding day.
