Mr & Mrs Martin
Wedding venue – Winters Barns, White Lodge, Nackington Rd, Canterbury CT4 7AY
Season - Spring 2016
The Day of the wedding
I had been recommended to Leanne and Nick after photographing a friends wedding last year at the venue. It was a cracking wedding for Hazel and Adam, a fantastic couple and guests who really made me feel welcome and had the most random marriage proposal by one of the guests after catching the bouquet once it had been tossed by Hazel.
In spring Winters Barns is scattered with stunning daffodils and the orchard is starting to bloom, in winters barns style the main barn had been covered in fresh hops from the pillars to ceiling giving it a really rustic feel. On arrival to the venue the team were hard at work putting the flowers, favours and cutlery in place for the day ahead, Winters is coordinated very well to ensure your day runs like clockwork so if you are considering winters barns for your wedding day then Lizi is your go to contact. After my introductions to the team it was time to get down to business capturing Leanne and the bridesmaids getting ready for the big day ahead.
After rounding up Leanne’s dress, shoes and accessories for some photos the girls had made great time and soon had Leanne in her wedding dress all ready for dad to come in and see his daughter for the 1st time in her amazing dress. Dads face was a picture when he came into the bridal salon and had a few people in tears as he gave Leanne a big hug and a kiss.
Guests had now started to arrive in the main barn while Nick and his ushers were busy with the registrar going over the finer details for the ceremony. This was a great time to capture some candid photography as the day started to gain momentum while the ceremony room was starting fill with family and friends.
In no time at all Leanne and the bridesmaids made their way from the bridal suite to the main barn and were waiting outside the double doors before coming down the isle to start proceedings. It was a touching ceremony made all the more special by the way the guys were with each other, after they had taken their wedding vows and exchanged wedding bands it was time for some photos with witnesses and the register. To finish of the formalities of the wedding ceremony the new Mr and Mrs Martin came down the isle to handfuls of confetti and the cheering of close family and friends.
Toast drinks lead the way for the group photos and some really nice romantic photos in the orchard and gardens areas of the venue. As a recommended photographer at Winters barns and having worked here many times before I knew exactly were I wanted to take the guys for some great shots before getting them back for the wedding breakfast and speeches at 4 o’clock.
Scott Anderson was providing the catering for today and the food looked delicious! As courses were served the guests got to enjoy the lovely favours provided by Leanne’s parents my favourite being the home made cherry brandy, which I was lucky enough to sample :)
After the wedding breakfast it was time to enjoy the speeches, after Leanne’s dad and Nick had said a few words it was now the best mans turn to entertain guests with a slice of the couples history and of course a few stories about Nick that might have been twisted slightly for entertainment value.
As the day passed us by the live band had now set up and were introducing the Martins to the dance floor for their first dance together, it wasn’t long before the band had everyone chucking some shapes and requesting some classics from the playlist. The guys had such a perfect day and I thoroughly enjoyed providing the wedding photography.
Here are a handful of my favourite shots from Nick and Leanne’s wedding at Winters Barns. Feel free to comment and share and get in touch if you’re looking for a wedding photographer at winters barns in Canterbury.
