Hayley & Gary met me while exhibiting at the Detling Showground last year and we hit it off straight away! They stopped for a chat, took a leaflet and well the rest is history!
We arranged to meet up over coffee to discuss their photography requirements and after pinning down the finer details found ourselves discussing great movies and one of my favorite tv series, Band of brothers. I’m a massive WW2 geek at heart and sure this stems from my dads impressive stint in the army. To summarize were talking WW2 and photography and I’m starting to salivate like Homer Simpson thinking about doughnuts! :)
The big day soon came round and it was time to pack the camera gear and make my way to the Barn in Tonbridge Wells to capture Hayley & Gary’s wedding.
Once again i was blessed with great weather and after arriving and some introductions it was time to get to work. The venue looked great and was already dressed so I made good use of the time to shoot the small details and room decor.
Gary and the boys had already arrived and were waiting for the rest of the guests to fill the remaining seats before Hayley’s arrival. The ceremony went perfectly and was followed by chilled champagne and bucks fizz. Now that the formal part of the day had passed the guys were able to relax and enjoy the hugs, kisses and heaps of banter thrown around with friends and family.
After a few drinks I intervened for the confetti photos and then took everyone across to the stunning grounds of the park to nail the groups and romantic photos. The crowd were well up for it and we had a blast working our way through the list of shots. 20 minutes later the guests headed back to the barn to keep the barn seats warm as I took Hayley & Gary off for some shots of our own.
The evening started to draw in with a sit down meal and some really good speeches which still have me chuckling to myself today, especially Gary’s new propeller hat which was captured below for all to see :)
Now Gary and the ushers had kept me in the loop with their surprise choreographed dance routine, which was to happen a couple of minutes into the 1st dance with Hayley. This was going to consist of some various tacks including gang man style!
The 1st dance got underway as they usually do with a slow, cuddly sort of two step dance and then Gary was pulled away from Hayley by his ushers who were already in their positions and ready to get this party underway! Its hard to explain exactly how this went down but the images tell the story best. After a really good effort from the boys the party was now truly underway. I stayed a little longer to capture the dancing and banter and then left the guys to dance the rest of the night away with their nearest and dearest.
I’d like to thank you all for being such a great bunch on the day and especially a huge thank you to Hayley and Gary for choosing me to capture your wedding day.
